Majestic: These horses may look real but are in fact made from thousands of pieces of driftwood salvaged from the shore. Each of the sculptures stands around 6ft tall

Amazing drift wood horses!
Recently, artist James Doran-Webb created life sized horse sculptures using absolutely nothing but scraps of drift wood found on a nearby beach. These magnificent creatures of art are able to bend and be put into a genre of postures. The various statues can be found galloping through the ocean, grazing in a pasture, or jumping obstacles. Amazingly, each horse can withstand the weight of five people. People can get on the back of these sculptures and let their imaginations go wild. I think that this project is beautifully creative and a good use of rogue drift wood. Most passing by tourists and beach bums would think nothing of the usual chunks of this wood littering their beloved beaches, but this amazing man sure did prove that he isn't just an ordinary guy. These recycled beauties now pose for fans and other artists on the daily. I think our society s a whole should follow the example of this man and learn something. Rather than seeking new and exciting things to add to our discarding, ambitious world, we should be picking up the unseen scraps of the world that drift through our daily lives. I hope that one day I will be able to create something of this magnitude using the unappreciated pieces of nature.

Bony bareback: Raven the horse has been turned into a 'Skeleton Horse' to celebrate Halloween

Raven showing off his costume.
                                                             A real neigh-t-mare!
In 2011, Ms.Cramer from Rockbridge, Ohio entered a Halloween photo contest on Facebook. Obviously, she won. Instead of going down the worn-out road of witch hats and cheesy horse costumes, Ms. Kramer had another idea. Using non-toxic and safe white paint, she painted her horse Raven's whole body. She used pictures of horse anatomy to put every bone where it should be and spent about 3 hours a day in the weeks leading up to Halloween completing this equine masterpiece. The "Skeleton Horse" has become so popular, that Raven has worn the costume for 4 years straight. I think it's amazing how someone was creative and crazy enough to paint their horse. I would love to do this to my horse, but he's white. Hopefully I will be painting the black outlines of the bones on him soon enough. I think that this amazing and unexpected costume will change the way equestrians celebrate Halloween. I think it would work on all colors and breeds of horse's because of the variety of hues that the paint comes is massive. This costume alternative is low-cost, a definite contest winner, and an amazing addition to any horse for Halloween. All anyone needs to do this to their horse is paint, a brush, and patience!

                        Awesome Horse Drawing Reference Guide
So I don't know about you people, but when I try to draw......well there's always an A for effort right? My biggest struggle lies in the category of living, breathing mammals. Whether I am attempting to replicate a person or "Grumpy Cat", I pitifully fail. Being that one annoying horse-obsessed girl at school, I naturally attempt to draw horses. A lot. Lets just say that the potato-dog object that my pencil unfortunately insists on making does not deserve to be compared to any living organism. The area that so strongly evades my success is anatomy. All of the bones, muscles, and tissues that make up my animal of obsession tend to disfigure themselves upon paper, even when they seem perfect in my mind. The convenient article that I have discovered has already provided so much assistance to my friends and I. I personally love drawing guides because they make me seem so much more talented than I am! Drawing horses often gets destroyed by the clashing of science and literature. On one hand, you naturally want make it look anatomically correct. On the other hand. stories that glorify these animals leave readers imagining broad, brave, and over sized heroes. This often causes the artist to create an unclear, confusing image.
This article fixes these problems. It aids the artist in drawing an anatomically correct horse that is still able to portray it's true elegance, strength, and spirit. It also demonstrates how to draw different horses doing different things. I personally recommend it to any person that is honestly trying to avoid drawing a deformed, walking potato!

Famous Horses In History: The Fire Horse

"For most of history, the human need for the horse was as a tangible part of the workforce. From plowing fields to being a major source of transportation, humans used the horse to help develop modern civilization. One such use of the horse was pulling the wagons for fire departments. They became the firefighters’ trusted partners." (Longaberger) During the period of the Civil War to the early 1920's, humans found an efficient way to haul their firefighting wagons. The horse is a large, hardworking breed of horse that has an average weight of 1,500 pounds. The anatomy of the horse includes a plethora of large muscles and sturdy bones. Obviously, this massive animal of power would be able to pull a much heavier load faster than ever before accomplished by humans. During this time period "fire horses" bravely transported water tanks and other firefighting materials to burning locations. For one of these animals to be qualified to fight fires it had to undergo a rigorous two-year training program, and qualify for weight organized jobs. . History has been greatly influenced by these unique animals and that is reflected in several cultures around the world.
I personally believe that this part of our history is amazing. When people see a broken down horse somewhere in rugged pasture on the side of the road, they most often think nothing of it. However, I immediately stop and gaze. People are so glued to their technology today that they ignorantly believe that they know everything about the no-WiFi world around them. Most people don't look close enough at these magnificent animals in our world. Horses are these huge, powerful creatures that have the power to kill, fly without wins, and cause a flurry of emotions in any humans heart. To experience this, you just have to look close enough. I would just like to remind people that these beautiful animals had to carry OUR equipment, to save US, because WE couldn't do it ourselves.
